Actress/model Jenny McCarthy and American footballer Brian Urlacher have ended their brief romance.

The unlucky-in-love star, who bared all for the July/August issue of Playboy, has released a statement confirming she has split from the Chicago Bears linebacker.

She writes, "Brian and I have decided to turn our romance into an amazing friendship (and) I will continue to be the biggest cheerleader for him."

The couple became an item earlier this year after McCarthy, who previously dated Jim Carrey, went public with her relationship issues, revealing she was desperate to find a partner.

McCarthy confirmed the romance with Urlacher in May and recently moved back to her native Chicago, Illinois, where her now-ex-boyfriend lives.
