Academics at the University of Southern California (USC) in Los Angeles have been left scratching their heads after Kim Kardashian's younger brother Rob announced he would be attending law school there this autumn .

The reality TV star took to Twitter.com on Tuesday to boast about landing a place at the top-flight school, but university insiders insist he hasn't even applied to study at USC.

One unnamed official tells The Hollywood Reporter that Rob Kardashian attended the university's Marshall School of Business in 2009, but there is no suggestion he will be back.

The star's full tweet read: "Going to Law School very soon and so excited and can't wait!. School just never ends for me!  University of Southern Cal (sic)."

Ironically, the university is the same one where O.J. Simpson played college football and became a Heisman Trophy winner.

Kardashian's late father Robert represented Simpson in his mid-1990s murder trial.
