DJ Deadmau5 has decided to take a break from music because he has been feeling "pretty miserable" and needs some "quiet time."

The house music star, real name Joel Thomas Zimmerman, explained his planned hiatus to fans in a post on his Tumblr.com blog, insisting he won't be cancelling any planned shows but he won't be performing again anytime soon.

He writes, "I'm going to unplug for a wee bit. Which doesn't mean I'm cancelling any upcoming shows or anything, I'm just gunna slam on the breaks for a bit and force myself to endure some quiet time. In that time, obviously the gears will still be moving, I'll still be writing, and the releases will still come out...

"I got a lot of work to do on some stuff. So, best I just chill the f**k out a bit and just get it done, and get it done right... Then our regularly scheduled program shall continue. But yeah, I'm basically pretty miserable right now and need to pull the f**k back and figure out whatever the f**k it is I do."

Deadmau5 has regular shows across Europe and North America running up until September 22nd, when he finishes his stint with a performance in Las Vegas.
