Rapper Beanie Sigel has been sentenced to two years in prison for tax evasion.

The 38 year old, real name Dwight Grant, was accused of failing to file his federal income tax returns between the years 2003 and 2005, allegedly racking up $348,077 in back payments, and he pleaded guilty to the charge earlier this year.

On Thursday, he appeared in court in Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, and was ordered to serve 24 months behind bars.

Grant is due to begin the sentence on September 12, and his attorney, Fortunato N. Perri, insists the star is just looking forward to putting the past behind him, telling XXLMag.com, "He's been through a lot.

"I think he's going to rebound well. He's been spending a lot of time with his family. He's matured. He will try to make his way to the top of the industry again."
