Lionsgate has decided to split the final book from "The Hunger Games" trilogy into two films. "Mockingjay" will become "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1," and "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 2," according to Entertainment Weekly.

Summit Entertainment did the same thing with the final "Twilight" book, producing "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1" and "Part 2." Warner Bros. also did it with "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1" and "Part 2."

Considering how much money can be generated by an additional film, Lionsgate's decision is no surprise.

"The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" hits theaters on Nov. 13, 2013. The plan is for "Mockingjay, Part 1" to be released Nov. 21, 2014, and "Mockingjay, Part 2" to debut on Nov. 20, 2015.

Earlier this week Philip Seymour Hoffman will cast as head gamemaker Plutarch Heavensbee. "The Hunger Games" earned earned a total of four honors at the MTV Movie Awards last month. It made over $400 million in the United States.
