The multi-talented Jennifer Hudson is returning to her TV roots with a guest appearance on NBC musical series "Smash." Hudson will join another "American Idol" alumni on the show - Katherine McPhee.
Hudson began her entertainment career in 2004 as a contestant on "Idol." She followed this up with a starring role in the 2006 film "Dreamgirls," for which she won a Best Supporting Actress Academy Award.
She's returning to the small screen to play a Tony-Award winning Broadway star in "Smash," which focuses on the world of New York's theatre district.
According to the series' executive producer Steven Spielberg, "First Dreamgirls, now Smash. I have no doubt Jennifer will continue to deliver even more inspiration to the audience responsible for giving us a second season on NBC."
Hudson is dipping her hands into a lot of ventures lately - she is launching her own fashion line. She plans on releasing an affordable clothing collection for women with curves.
