In a candid new interview, moviemaker Oliver Stone talks about his drug use, listing the hallucinogenics he approves of and the hard drugs he avoids.

Stone reveals he no longer takes anti-depressants, but he uses Ecstasy and the hallucinogenic juice from rubber tree plants. The "Natural Born Killers" and "Platoon" director has never been shy about his drug use.

I believe the grass (marijuana) is God's gift," he says. "California makes the best in the world now...All my life I've been doing it, off and on. I can stop marijuana...I'm not addicted. I enjoy it. I also enjoy alcohol.

He added, "Cocaine, I stay away from, but I believe in LSD, mescaline, mushrooms, ayahuasca.

"You ever heard of ayahuasca? It's a very strong juice that comes from the rubber trees. Ecstasy is great, too."

But when it comes to prescription drugs, Stone takes the hard line.

He explains, "I've taken medication, but it doesn't work for me. I'm not a Prozac person anymore; I've already taken too much of that. I feel you have to confront it (depression) on a spiritual basis."

Stone directs the upcoming film "Savages" based on Don Winslow's best-selling novel. The crime drama centers on a pair of peaceful, Laguna Beach marijuana dealers who are targeted for extortion by the ruthless Mexican Baja cartel. Blake Lively, Taylor Kitsch, Trevor Donovan and John Travolta star. The film opens in theaters on July 6.
