General Hospital

Soap opera General Hospital has been tipped for glory at the 2012 Daytime Emmy Awards after scooping a whopping 23 nominations.

The long-running medical drama, which is up for the highly-coveted Outstanding Drama Series trophy, also landed nods in the best lead actor and actress categories for Maurice Bernard, Anthony Geary and Laura Wright.

Tying for second place were children's show Sesame Street and TV soap The Young and the Restless, which received 16 nominations a piece, while Days of Our Lives is up for 15.

Also receiving mentions were All My Children, One Life to Live, The Bold and the Beautiful, Whoopi Goldberg's talk show The View, Sharon Osbourne's rival program The Talk, and The Oprah Winfrey Show, which aired its final episode last May after a successful 25-season run.

The winners will be announced at the 39th annual prize-giving ceremony in Los Angeles on June 23rd.
