Superstar Barbra Streisand is to return to the stage in her native Brooklyn, New York this autumn for the first time in more than 50 years.

The iconic singer/actress was born in the borough, and while she has played numerous shows in the Big Apple since shooting to fame, the 70 year old has never been back to Brooklyn to sing.

However, it was rumored she was planning a 2012 homecoming extravaganza, and Streisand announced on Wednesday she will perform a concert on October 11th at the Barclays Center.

The venue is due for completion later this year and rap star Jay-Z is set to launch the entertainment complex with a series of concerts at the end of September.
