TLC star Tionne 'T-Boz' Watkins is seriously considering bringing her late bandmate Lisa 'Left Eye' Lopes back from the grave for an upcoming anniversary tour, insisting she thought up the idea years before rapper Dr. Dre 'resurrected' Tupac Shakur for the Coachella music festivals.
Surviving TLC members T-Boz and Rozanda 'Chilli' Thomas announced plans for their first U.S. tour in nine years on Wednesday - exactly 10 years after rapper Left Eye was killed in a car accident.
A report on TMZ.com suggested the singers were interested in using the same holographic technology which made Tupac's 'performance' at the recent California festival shows possible, and now T-Boz reveals she has actually been working on the expensive idea for some time.
She tells Essence.com, "I have been trying to get a hologram (of Left Eye) for years but no one would pay for the budget."
Instead, the Waterfall hitmakers had to make do with projecting an image of Left Eye on to the big screens onstage during their performances.
T-Boz admits the thought of having her late pal join her and Chilli onstage again took some getting used to, but after witnessing Tupac's Coachella appearance, she's sure it will be a hit with fans.
She says, "With Lisa, the first three years, I don't think I could've dealt with a hologram, because you see how eerie it is.
"(But) when I saw the Tupac hologram... I had tears in my eyes because he was my friend."
