Katy Perry Slams The Media For Twisting Her Beyonce/Shakira Comments
Katy Perry has blasted the media for spreading erroneous reports suggesting she criticized Beyonce and Shakira's chart collaboration Beautiful Liar.
The I Kissed A Girl hit-maker was discussing her plans to record with her pop pal Rihanna during an appearance on a British radio show on Monday when she admitted they wanted to come up with a real girl power anthem to emulate the success of the Eurythmics and Aretha Franklin's 1985 hit Sisters Are Doin' It For Themselves.
She told the BBC, "We've collaborated on a lot of things, but just not songs yet. It's one of those things that's got so much build up that we have to deliver. "I want it to be like that Eurythmics and Aretha Franklin song Sisters Are Doin' It for Themselves, not like (Shakira and Beyonce song) Beautiful Liar...
"But I definitely want to do something that is so iconic."
Her comments were immediately picked up by the media and gossip bloggers accused Perry of taking a swipe at Beyonce and Shakira. But Perry is mad because many reports failed to include the part of her quote in which she actually praised their track, saying, "I loved it."
The singer took to her Twitter.com page late on Tuesday to hit out at reporters for manipulating her words.
She wrote, "F*ck all y'all (press) dat (sic) thinks I dissed anyone, puhlez (please), u havin (sic) a slow news day or what?! Get a life..."
