Actor James Denton has filmed a public service announcement (PSA) for a cancer charity in honor of his mother who died of the disease.

The Desperate Housewives star fronts Stand Up To Cancer and Cancer Treatment Centers of America's new awareness campaign, entitled Better Questions, Better Care, which focuses on patient empowerment following their diagnosis.

Denton's mother Mary passed away in 2002 following a battle with breast cancer, and the actor felt compelled to lend his support to the organizations' initiative.

He says, "When my mother was diagnosed with cancer, one of the hardest challenges she faced was the overwhelming questions that came with that life-altering event."

"Her courage is what inspired me to partner with Stand Up To Cancer and Cancer Treatment Centers of America to remind patients and their caregivers through this PSA that knowledge really is power."
