Jack Black Jack Black has come to the defense of The Muppets after Courtney Love reportedly accused the popular puppets of destroying Kurt Cobain's legacy by covering a Nirvana song in the latest movie.

The Hole star was said to be fuming to discover Smells Like Teen Spirit was used in The Muppets film in a scene featuring Black, and is reported to have told pals the cover was "raping" her late husband's work.

However, Black is adamant no offense was intended as he is a big fan of the Nirvana frontman.

He tells E! Online, "I beg to differ... That's absurd, absurd, absurd... I personally hold no one in higher esteem in the world of rock. Kurt Cobain for me is at the top of the pyramid. He was the king..."

"When he died it was sort of the end of rock."
