Comedian Russell Brand has turned himself into police in New Orleans, Louisiana to face questioning for "criminal damages" following a scuffle with a paparazzo.
A warrant was issued for the Brit's arrest on Wednesday night after Timothy Jackson filed a police complaint following the encounter on Monday, during which Brand threw the snapper's iPhone through the window of an abandoned office building.
The Arthur star took to Twitter.com to defend himself, joking his actions were a tribute to late Apple boss Steve Jobs.
He wrote, "Since Steve Jobs died I cannot bear to see anyone use an iphone irreverently, what I did was a tribute to his memory."
The funnyman subsequently offered to cover the cost of the window repair and he has handed over $240 to the property owners, according to TMZ.com.
Brand, who is filming a movie in New Orleans, surrendered to cops on Thursday afternoon and is currently in police custody.
