M.I.A. Urges Fans To Watch Documentary About Sri Lanka's Secret War

M.I.A.Hip-hop star M.I.A. is urging fans to tune into a hard-hitting new British documentary about the secret war between Sri Lankan government forces and the country's Tamil people.

The singer is a longtime Tamil activist and she's a big fan of the new Channel 4 special, Killing Fields, which debuted in the U.K. on Wednesday.

The broadcast is now available online - and M.I.A. wants the world to see what is really happening in Sri Lanka, and why she is so determined to stop it.

In a series of tweets, she writes, "2009 MAYA LP was born out of this frustration > i was pregnent (sic) and was exposed (to) these images everyday... i got accused of 'supporting terrorism' , 'mis representing tamils', glamorising a war, using it for my own gain, having bad grammar.

"This C4 (Channel 4) #killingfields doc (documentary) makes the points i couldnt (sic) make."
