Keith Richards Confirms Rolling Stones Tour - 51 Years On

March 14th, 2012 12:25pm EDT

Keith RichardsKeith Richards has confirmed The Rolling Stones will hit the road for a 50th anniversary tour - 51 years after they formed.

Fans of the iconic rock band have been desperate for a series of concerts to celebrate the group's half-century landmark this year, and even guitarist Ronnie Wood expressed hope they will tour soon.

Richards has now confirmed they do plan to play live again - but it's unlikely they'll be able to schedule gigs until 2013.

He tells Rolling Stone magazine, "Basically, we're just not ready. I have a feeling (2013 is) more realistic... The Stones always considered '63 to be 50 years, because Charlie (Watts, drummer) didn't actually join until January. We look upon 2012 as sort of the year of conception, but the birth is next year."

Richards has also hinted the enduring rockers could have a familiar full line-up - former bass play Bill Wyman is "up for" joining the tour. Wyman left the band in 1992.
