Kelly Clarkson To Star In New TV Singing Show 'Duets'
Former American Idol champion Kelly Clarkson is set to front a new reality TV singing show with Lionel Richie.
The singer, who won the first season of Simon Cowell's talent show in 2002, is becoming a TV judge herself on a new series called Duets, in which a number of stars will head out across America to find a collaborative partner.
Richie will also be joining the show along with Robin Thicke and country star Jennifer Nettles.
During the series, the four stars will go looking for singers to be their duet partner, and each week will feature a performance in front of a studio audience. The eventual winner will be given a recording contract.
Clarkson says in a statement, "The simple fact that I get to go out and find two people I believe in, sing with them every week and help them accomplish their dream is an amazing thing I can't wait to be a part of."
Duets is the latest in a long line of new TV talent shows to launch - Cowell's American The X Factor is heading into series two, while Queen Latifah is preparing to debut The Star Next Door, in which Gloria Estefan and John Rich will scout for talent across the U.S. Jennifer Lopez and her estranged husband Marc Anthony are also launching Latin America-based series, Q'Viva! The Chosen.
