Demi Lovato Still Struggles With Eating Disorder And Self-Harming Issues

Demi LovatoDemi Lovato is still battling to overcome her eating disorder and self-harming concerns following her stint in rehab, admitting she has cut herself and vomited since receiving treatment.

The actress/singer quit her tour with the Jonas Brothers in late 2010 to check into a clinic in Illinois to receive treatment for problems including bulimia and self-harming, and she opened up about her troubles in a new MTV documentary called Stay Strong, during which she revisits the rehab center where she spent several months recuperating.

Lovato reveals she had no idea her parents planned to send her to the health center until they staged an intervention, and the star was seething when they told her they had scheduled a plane to take her away for treatment.

She says, "I was so mad at my parents I was like 'I hate you guys'."

In the film, Lovato also admits her problems with her weight date back to childhood, but she didn't feel any better about herself after slimming down at the age of 12: "When I was four years old and I remember looking in the mirror and thinking I was fat. I was constantly feeling guilty about my weight."

"I was overeating to compensate for not feeling worthy enough and then not knowing what to do. Even when I did lose 20 lbs when I turned 12 because I stopped eating, it's never enough. It was an obsession of the mind."

Lovato also confesses that despite making huge strides in her personal battles, she still occasionally relapses into her old ways.

She adds, "There's days where you're going to struggle. I cannot tell you that I have not thrown up since treatment. I cannot tell you I've not cut myself since treatment. I'm not perfect. This is a daily battle that I will face for the rest of my life."
