Halle Berry has fired her longtime legal representative and hired the lawyer who helped Mel Gibson settle his custody battle with Russian singer Oksana Grigorieva.
The actress has been embroiled in a bitter court fight with her ex-boyfriend Gabriel Aubry, the father of her three-year-old daughter Nahla, since their split in 2010.
Last month, Berry asked a judge for permission to move from Los Angeles to her fiancé Olivier Martinez's native France, amid fears for her and her child's safety following a recent encounter with an alleged stalker who was caught trespassing on her property on multiple occasions.
Aubry is allegedly opposed to the relocation, and now the Oscar winner is stepping up her legal battle by ditching Neal Hersh for famed family law attorney Stephen Kolodny, according to TMZ.com.
Kolodny helped Gibson secure joint custody of his daughter, two-year-old Lucia, in August after a nasty break-up with his ex-girlfriend Grigorieva in early 2010.
Berry will be hoping for similar success in her case. The actress sought to ban Aubry from contacting Nahla in January after former nanny Alliance Kamdem accused the model of shoving her while she was holding the child. Formal charges against Aubry were subsequently dismissed.
