Lady GagaPop star Lady Gaga marked the official launch of her new charity foundation at Harvard University on Wednesday.

The "Bad Romance" hitmaker was mobbed by dozens of fans as she arrived at the prestigious Massachusetts school to celebrate her Born This Way Foundation, which aims to stomp out bullying and empower today's youth.

She said, "It's not about needing help. It's about wanting to help. How do we work together to make the world a more kind and loving place?"

Gaga's mother and charity co-founder Cynthia Germanotta was also on hand to show support for her daughter's organization, as was TV personality Oprah Winfrey and spiritual leader Deepak Chopra.

The location of the event was particularly significant - in 1920 a group of Harvard administrators expelled seven allegedly gay students and on Wednesday activists gathered to push campus officials into awarding posthumous degrees to those wronged.

School executives publicly apologized to the families of those students kicked out in 2002.
