Sarah Palin's Aide Slams HBO's 'Game Change'

2/23/2012 2:40pm EST

Sarah PalinA leading aide for one-time vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin has condemned Julianne Moore's portrayal of the politician in upcoming TV movie Game Change, branding the project inaccurate and "sick".

The film, which is set to premiere on March 10th, chronicles the former Alaskan governor's bid to become America's first female vice-president as John McCain's running mate in 2008.

Much has been made about Moore's likeness to Palin in trailers for the film, but the politician's former spokeswoman Meg Stapleton insists that's one of the only things correct about the project. Stapleton insists that from what she has seen so far in trailers, Palin is unfairly portrayed as a "weak" woman.

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, she said, "We all know Palin sells and the dramatization of Palin sells even more (but) this is sick. They mock Governor Palin... as weak and unable to cope and press forward. And the movie and the trailer... say that."

"And yet, look with your own eyes at what she and her family have endured and inspired over the last few years. Any lesser man would have hanged himself by now. So who's weak?"

Palin has previously refused to support the film, even denying director Jay Roach's request to become a consultant.

The movie is based on John Heilemann and Mark Halperin's book, which chronicles John McCain's failed bid for the White House. He and Palin were beaten by Barack Obama and Joe Biden.
