British actress Minnie Driver has revealed her three-year-old son was fathered by a writer on her former TV drama The Riches.
The Good Will Hunting star gave birth to little Henry Story Driver in 2008, but she refused to come clean about the identity of the baby's father, who has long been rumored to be a TV staffer.
Now, in a candid interview with Britain's The Observer magazine, Driver admits she has no "need to protect" the baby's dad any longer and while she stops short of naming the writer outright, she confesses they were never officially a couple.
She says, "He can fend for himself. He's a grown-up. We weren't together and he wasn't directly in the business so I chose to protect him and not have a rain of publicity. He's not famous. There's no big story."
Driver, 42, has been bringing Henry up as a single mother but she admits the child's father is gradually stepping up his responsibilities as a new parent.
She adds, "Is he a good dad? Sort of. He's figuring it out... I mean, he hasn't been that involved, his choice. But he is now."
