Bedridden Deftones bassist Chi Cheng is responding to doctors and can now lift his leg on request - more than three years after falling into a coma.
 
The rocker remains in a minimally conscious state but he's given loved ones renewed hope of recovery with his latest breakthrough.
 
Cheng has been opening his eyes, making noises and can even raise his leg, according to the fundraising website One Love For Chi.
 
Video footage posted on the site shows Cheng gradually raising his left foot a few inches into the air.
 
The musician slipped into a coma following a car crash in Santa Clara, California in November 2008.
