Singer/songwriter Linda Perry insists her romance with actress-turned-TV host Sara Gilbert was destined - because the two stars look and dress alike.

The 4 Non Blondes singer and Gilbert began dating shortly after the actress split from her partner of 10 years, Allison Adler, in August, and Perry admits even her girlfriend's kids still get the two of them mixed up.

She tells Eonline.com, "It's so awesome. I would never have expected that me and her would be dating. We met and we just instantly connected. We're so alike but so different, too. It really works.

"Me and Sara dress alike and her daughter thought I was her the other night. We're short and we both have curly hair."

But although the pair is having a lot of fun together, Perry insists a wedding is a long way off: "We gotta get through a year first... We haven't even lived together yet."
