Mark Wahlberg is contemplating heading behind the camera to direct a big screen comedy.
The Departed star made his move from modeling into movies in the mid-1990s, and has been producing since 2004's Juvies.
The star admits he came close to taking creative control of his 2010 boxing blockbuster The Fighter, but wants his directorial debut to be a light-hearted project.
He tells MTV.com, "I've definitely been thinking about it (directing) a lot. I don't want to cross the line, either, because I see myself saying, 'Hey, no, what about this? That's not going to work,'. I would do that with the script, and there are scenes that you know just aren't going to make it into the movie, so it's like, 'why are we shooting this?' I've got to remind myself to allow the director to direct.
"There was a time when I was thinking about directing Fighter. But I think I want to do something that's a little more on the comedic side."
