80s Singer John Parr Rewrites Hit 'St. Elmo's Fire' Theme Song For Tim Tebow (Listen!)

British singer/songwriter John Parr has jumped on the Tim Tebow bandwagon - in fact, one might even say he's driving it these days.

Parr is known (in America, at least) for just one hit single - the theme song to 1985 brat-pack film St. Elmo's Fire, which starred Demi Moore, Rob Lowe, Emilio Estevez, Andrew McCarthy, Judd Nelson & Ally Sheedy as a group of friends who recently graduated college and struggled to cope with the 'real world.'

The singer, currently making a career comeback, told FOX31 Denver's Tammy Vigil that he rewrote the lyrics to "St. Elmo's Fire (Man in Motion)" because sports network ESPN had asked him to change the chorus on-the-spot during a visit to their studios for an on-air segment. Parr agreed, later changing and re-recording the song entirely to celebrate the Denver Broncos quarterback. But it wasn't until after he did the rewrite that he actually took an interest in Tebow's background.

"I was inspired by Tim Tebow so I wanted to modify the lyrics... in his honor of the way that he lives his life as being a great example," he says.

Parr originally wrote the song, which topped the charts in 1985, for another athlete, Canadian paralympian Rick Hansen, whose Man in Motion World Tour helped raise awareness for people with spinal cord injuries.

Tebow, the home-schooled, highly religious Evangelical Christian quarterback - "arguably the most beloved American hero since G.I. Joe" - led his team to six come-from-behind victories during the 2011 regular season before capping off an overtime victory against the Pittsburgh Steelers in the first round of the playoffs on January 8.

Saturday night, the Denver Broncos visit the New England Patriots in Foxborough, Mass. for a divisional playoff game, hoping to extend their miraculous season and playoff run - but it's going to be difficult - the two teams met just four weeks ago and the Patriots won 41-23.

The game airs on CBS Saturday night at 8pm. Who will you be rooting for? Leave us a comment below!
