Sean Penn has been given top marks as he battles anger management issues following a showdown with a photographer in 2010.
The actor had a progress hearing in his criminal battery case on Tuesday and the judge overseeing the matter was told Penn is making progress.
The Mystic River star pleaded no contest to vandalism after allegedly beating a paparazzo and as a result the battery charges were dismissed.
In addition to probation, Penn was required to attend 36 hours of anger management classes.
And his lawyer Richard Hirsch, who was in court for the hearing, tells TMZ.com that Penn's counselor gave the actor high marks.
The lawyer claims his client has attended one of three classes.
