R&B star India.Arie is embroiled in a legal battle with her former manager over allegations she ended their professional relationship without settling her bill.

Noreen Nalli, who served as Arie's manager between 2005 and 2009, has filed a lawsuit at a federal court in Tennessee claiming her former client dumped her without warning two years ago and failed to fully pay up.

The legal papers suggest Arie owes money to Nalli, but the singer has counter-sued claiming she overpaid her former representative, according to TMZ.com.

A representative for the star tells the website the singer "remains hopeful that the matter will be resolved amicably."
