Sting has given the Occupy Wall Street protests a miss because he doesn't think rock stars and other celebrities should get involved in such demonstrations.
New Yorkers spearheaded the now worldwide Occupy anti-corporate greed movement in New York in September and impressed Sting has watched from afar as determined protesters let their voices be heard.
But he has steered clear of joining the likes of Kanye West, Russell Simmons, Tom Morello and Susan Sarandon on the front lines.
He tells Rolling Stone magazine, "I'm intrigued by the Occupy movement... (but) I don't think celebrities should necessarily go to Occupy events. They're usually there to aggrandize themselves, anyway. I will support it from a distance."
