Singer Christina Perri called cops last week after a man punched her several times during an attempted carjacking.

The Jar of Hearts hit-maker was driving into a building in Los Angeles in the early hours of the morning when an unknown man approached her vehicle and opened the side door.

He ordered the stunned star to "move over," but when she refused he tried to force his way in and struck her on the head and body several times, reports TMZ.com.

The singer pushed the man off and started honking her car horn until he eventually ran away.

Cops have launched an investigation but have so far not identified the suspect.
