Girls Aloud star Sarah Harding snubbed a joint birthday bash with her bandmate Kimberley Walsh to celebrate her 30th alone in a hotel room, according to a U.K. report.
The British singer held a lavish star-studded bash to mark turning 29 last year, but Harding, who recently split with her fiance Tom Crane and underwent a stint in rehab, refused to fly back from America to party and celebrate the big 3-0 in London.
Harding reportedly "didn’t feel ready" to join her bandmates, including Cheryl Cole and Nicola Roberts, at a London nightclub on Friday.
A source tells Britain's Daily Mirror, "Sarah has had a tough year but she is a strong girl who is back on the mend. She has just left a rehab facility and did not feel ready to fly back to London to party - and she had to say no to people flying over to see her as well.
"She is using the time to recuperate and reflect by herself. It just goes to show how far she has come and is determined to change her life for the better. Her 30th birthday was supposed to be a shindig (bash) to dwarf all others. She had also been looking forward to planning her wedding next year but now she is adapting to life as a single girl."
But despite her low-key birthday, her Girls Aloud pals flooded their Twitter.com blogs with well wishes to the star.
Cole wrote, "Happy Birthday Harding.. Love you babe.. !!", while Roberts added, "It’s our girl’s big day.. Happy Birthday Sarah.. Love u (sic)."
