The drummer's low-key debut as a leading man will open in theaters at the end of October.
In the film, the rock star plays a mysterious criminal who sets out to rob a small town bank, but his plans change when he meets a retired poetry professor, played by Sutherland.
Mullen, Jr. plays French pop star Johnny Hallyday's role from the 2002 original, while Sutherland takes over from Jean Rochefort.
