The Nanny McPhee star is an enthusiastic supporter of the Helen Bamber Foundation, an organization which helps rebuild the lives of survivors of human rights violations.
She was the star guest at its fundraising bash in London and headed up the evening's auction, which included an
painting of Britain's Queen Elizabeth II
Before the sale, Thompson encouraged guests including British actress Emilia Fox
to "buy something fabulous" to benefit the charity.
