Actress Ellen Barkin's representative has shut down reports suggesting the actress is set to wed for the third time.

The Ocean's Thirteen star found her love life under scrutiny earlier this year when it emerged the 57 year old was dating writer/director Sam Levinson, the 26-year-old son of moviemaker Barry Levinson, who directed Barkin in her breakthrough 1980s film Diner.

The couple has been in a low-key relationship for three years and editors at the National Enquirer this week suggested Barkin was so taken by Levinson, she had proposed to her young beau. They went on to allege the lovers were planning to become man and wife in early 2012.

A source told the publication, "Ellen is madly in love with Sam and wants to spend the rest of her life with him. She proposed marriage while they were walking on the beach one late afternoon in August. Sam didn't skip a beat (didn't hesitate) before accepting."

However, Barkin's publicist Stephen Huvane has dismissed the rumors.

He tells WENN, "It's all a fabricated story."
 
Barkin has been married twice before - to Irish actor Gabriel Byrne, with whom she has two kids, and businessman Ron Perelman. The second union ended in a messy divorce in 2006.
