R&B Singer Ryan Leslie Heads Back To School As Student Mentor
R&B singer/producer Ryan Leslie is following in Swizz Beatz's footsteps and taking on a role as a student mentor at New York University.
Beatz shared the secrets of his success with youngsters enrolled at the Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music at the University's Tisch School of the Arts for the last academic year, serving as the first Producer in Residence.
Now Leslie is set to take on a similar job - the Addiction star has been appointed the first Artist in Residence for the current 2011-2012 school year.
Leslie will give lectures, critique songs and mentor students as part of the position, reports AllHipHop.com.
Jeffrey Rabhan, chairman of The Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music, says, "Ryan Leslie is the epitome of the creative entrepreneur... His entire professional career has been a perfect balance between artistry and business acumen. We think someone of Ryan Leslie's intelligence, talent, and entrepreneurial savvy will add a dynamic new dimension to the Institute and we're excited to have him join the program."
And Leslie will be a good fit at the top school - he was somewhat of an academic prodigy, graduating from Harvard University with a degree in government at the age of 19 - two years ahead of his peers.
