Foo Fighters star Dave Grohl was pulled over for speeding and using a cellphone while driving on Thursday as he raced to appear on a TV show. 

The rocker was running late for his slot on Conan and foolishly decided to phone the show's producer as he sped through Hollywood. 

But, appearing on the show on Thursday night, Grohl had nothing but praise for the traffic cop. 

He said, "He let me off with a warning for the speeding but gave me the thing-a-ding (ticket) for talking on the phone." 

It's illegal to drive in California while holding and using a cellphone.
