Country star Travis Tritt is nursing his son back to full health after a freak boating accident almost cost the 12 year old his foot.
The singer was enjoying a day out on Lake Blue Ridge in Georgia with his wife Theresa and their three children on August 20 when young Tristan decided to take a dip in the water.
But the leisurely vacation turned into a parent's worst nightmare when Tristan's foot got sucked into the propeller blades, slashing his flesh to the bone.
Tritt was behind the wheel of the boat at the time of the accident and immediately shut off the engine when he realized what had happened, helping to pull the boy out of the water before rushing him to the nearest hospital, according to the National Enquirer.
Doctors managed to stitch up the deep cuts on Tristan's leg and his mother later shared photos of the horrific injury on her Facebook.com page.
Describing one bloody photo, she wrote, "Cut down to the bone!! Doctors can't explain how the bone didn't get shattered or cut in two."
She also expressed her and her husband's relief that Tristan was alive and well and on the road to a full recovery.
She added, "We are sooooo (sic) blessed today 'cause it could have been a terrible day... It is truly a great day to be alive."
The Tritts are also parents to daughter Tyler, 13, and seven-year-old son Tarian.
