Filmmaker Sofia Coppola and her longterm partner, musician Thomas Mars, have married in Italy.

The "Lost in Translation" director exchanged vows with the Phoenix frontman on Saturday on her dad Francis Ford Coppola's lavish estate in Bernalda - the small village where her grandparents were born.

Coppola's director father walked her down the aisle as she wore a custom-made lavender bridal gown in front of around 80 guests, including Johnny Depp and George Lucas.

The village's mayor Leonardo Chiruzzi, who performed the civil ceremony, tells the Associated Press,"Everything went well. It was simple, calm, in the garden. If they wanted to do a Hollywood wedding, they wouldn't have done it here. They chose to do it here because it's here - it's here that is beautiful."

The pair has two children, four-year-old Roma and Cosima, 15 months. Coppola was previously married to director Spike Jonze, who she divorced in 2003 after four years.
