George Michael has axed a planned charity performance with Alicia Keys on Wednesday after he was struck down with a tooth infection.
The former Wham! frontman told fans on Twitter earlier this week his face had swollen up like "a hairy football" as a result of the mystery condition, comparing himself to Marlon Brando in The Godfather.
He had hoped to recover in time to take the stage alongside Keys at her Keep A Child Alive Black Ball event in London, which raises money for victims of HIV and Aids in Africa, but he went online again on Wednesday to reveal he was still unable to perform.
In a series of posts, the Careless Whisper hit-maker writes, "I don't want to let down the charity, which is excellent, and I would love to sing with Alicia, shes (sic) wonderful... This tooth ain't (sic) getting better in time for tonight, not enough to sing anyway..."
"I'm really sorry folks. You watch, it'll be totally fine by tomorrow. B**ody typical."
