New mom Penelope Cruz has vowed to shield her baby son from the media spotlight as much as possible because she wants her child to live a free and "anonymous" life.
 
The star and her actor husband Javier Bardem welcomed little Leo in January, but they refused to release details about the boy's birth and his name was only made public after a slip up by one of their director pals.
 
And Cruz insists she will do her best to keep the cameras away as she raises the tot.
 
She tells Vogue magazine, "I want my son - and my kids if I have more - to grow up in a way that is as anonymous as possible. The fact that his father and I have chosen to do the work that we do doesn't give anybody the right to invade our privacy."
 
Protecting the child will come easily to Cruz, according to the actress' best friend, Salma Hayek. She says, "Penelope is a motherly creature, a warrior by nature. I told her that little boy is the luckiest boy in the world."
