R&B singer Chris Brown's comeback is complete - he is leading this year's BET Awards with a total of six nominations.
The Kiss Kiss hit-maker was convicted of assault and ordered to stay away from his ex-girlfriend Rihanna after confessing he beat her during a heated fight on the eve of the 2009 Grammy Awards.
Brown has since attempted to rebuild his reputation and singing career - beginning with a Michael Jackson tribute at the 2010 BET Awards ceremony. The star insisted the performance was his "ultimate apology" for letting fans down over his actions - and just a year on he has received the most nods at the 2011 event.
Brown is nominated in the Best Male R&B Artist, Viewer's Choice and Video Of The Year (for Look at Me Now) categories. He's also been nominated twice in the Best Collaboration category for hit tracks Deuces, starring Tyga and Kevin McCall, as well as Look at Me Now, in which he worked with Busta Rhymes and Lil Wayne. The singer also landed a nod for Best Actor for his role in thriller Takers.
Writing on Twitter.com following the announcement, Brown writes, "Thx (thanks) to B.E.T for all the support and I love you..."
Lil Wayne is also up for five trophies at the prize giving, while Kanye West, Drake and Rihanna are up for four awards apiece. Will Smith's daughter Willow is in the running for Best Newcomer. Cali Swag District were nominated in the Best Group category, just days after member M-Bone was killed in a drive-by shooting on Sunday.
Comedian Kevin Hart will host the show on June 26th in Los Angeles, while Alicia Keys is slated to perform.
