Anthony Hopkins Encouraged Kenneth Branagh To Portray Olivier
Anthony Hopkins gave his "Thor" director Kenneth Branagh the confidence to portray acting great Lord Olivier on the big screen by telling the star all about his encounters with the legend.
Branagh was mulling over the idea of playing Olivier opposite Michelle Williams in "My Week With Marilyn" as he shot "Thor" - and he couldn't decide whether it was something he could pull off.
He says, "Tony had worked with Olivier himself. (He) knew him well, and had many war stories, many intimate observations of the way Olivier was, and that, to some extent, gave me the confidence to try and do it."
