Leonardo DiCaprio paid a staggering $1.2 million for a painting by legendary artist Salvador Dali, according to a report.

The Inception star was bidding on two works by Pablo Picasso at Christie's in New York earlier this week, but when he failed to win the items, he turned his attention to a piece by the surrealist.

Gallery worker Rachel Steckson tells the New York Post, "He bid on the Picassos, but it was clear the Dali was what he wanted. He turned around and was like, 'Yes!'"

DiCaprio is said to have bought the signed Chevaliers en parade piece, which shows a knight on horseback.
