Popular Drag Queen Lands Role In Don Johnson's Hairdressing Drama
A top reality TV drag queen has landed a leading role in "Miami Vice" star Don Johnson's new drama set in a Beverly Hills hairdressing salon.
D.J. Pierce, aka Shangela, was a hit on quirky TV show "RuPaul's Drag Race," and now he's set for more television stardom.
He tells Eonline.com, "I play Snip. He's a hairstylist out of New York who comes to Los Angeles and gets into the busy life of the salon. I'm a gay queen from New York City who does hair, so you know I have a bit of a b**ch in me."
Shangela reveals his character won't be in drag at first, but adds, "I always got a wig in the bag - so if they need it, it's there!"
The upcoming drama will also feature Ellen Barkin and "Sex & The City" regular Mario Cantone.
