Vanessa HudgensVanessa Hudgens is adamant she had no qualms about showing off her body in new movie Sucker Punch following harsh criticism of the female cast's revealing costumes.

Hudgens stars alongside Emily Browning and Abbie Cornish in the Zack Snyder movie, which tells the story of a young woman who is involuntarily committed to a mental institution.

A series of dream sequences reveal the hospital as a brothel filled with scantily-dressed dancers and the actresses' saucy outfits prompted criticism of the film's erotic undertones, with a writer for movie magazine Variety branding it "fantasy fodder for 13-year-old guys" and claiming the female cast dressed in "demeaning fetish gear."

However, Hudgens insists she felt empowered by stripping off, as she was able to show off her toned figure.
She tells the Los Angeles Times, "I was in the best shape of my life, so why not? The woman's body is a beautiful thing. There's no reason why we shouldn't, like, be our best in our costumes."

The actress is also adamant she would never agree to do anything onscreen that she didn't feel comfortable with, adding, "A lot of women get walked all over on (sic) by not standing up for themselves, and that's just not what I'm about. I'm figuring myself out now as a young adult more than I ever have. It's like my eyes are opening and I'm awakening to controlling my future."
