Christina Aguilera's 'Beautiful' Named Most Empowering Pop Song
Christina Aguilera's inspirational ballad Beautiful has been named the most empowering pop song of the last decade for the gay community.
Aguilera's 2003 hit saw off competition from gay icon Lady Gaga to take a third of the votes in a poll by U.K. charity Stonewall to find pop's most powerful message for the lesbian, gay and bisexual community.
Irish boy band Boyzone came in second place with Better, which was accompanied by a video featuring a gay couple, while Gaga's equality anthem Born This Way was third.
Standing In The Way Of Control by Gossip and Katy Perry's Firework rounded out the top five.
Aguilera was thrilled with the poll results, insisting, "I'm delighted to have been voted the most inspirational pop act by Stonewall's supporters - my gay fan base is so important to me and this continues my special relationship with them."
