'Glee' Creator Regrets Kings Of Leon Feud

April 4th, 2011 1:34pm EDT

Ryan Murphy Glee creator Ryan Murphy has moved to end his feud with Kings Of Leon by voicing his regret over the foul-mouthed fall-out and insisting he completely "supports" the band's decision to opt out of the show.

The boss behind the musical TV series became embroiled in a public spat with the rock group after he labeled them "self-centered a**holes" for refusing to let their songs feature in Glee.

Kings of Leon drummer Nathan Followill fuelled the fall-out by writing a rude post on Twitter.com, telling Murphy to "Let it go. See a therapist, get a manicure, buy a new bra. Zip your lip and focus on educating seven yr (year) olds how to say f**k."

Murphy has now spoken out to calm tensions between the two sides, insisting he no longer feels bitter about the snub.

He tells the Hollywood Reporter, "I didn't speak with as much clarity as I would have liked. Who am I to say 'F**k you?' That's not what I meant. I completely understand when artists don't want a show or another artist to interpret their songs. In fact, I respect it. It's their personal work and I'd feel the same way. We get turned down all the time and I don't fight it or even go back after a rejection..."

"I've never felt that if you don't give Glee your music, there's something diabolical about you. To the contrary: I support artists and what they choose to do... I think Kings of Leon are cool as s**t."

And Murphy is adamant he's not about to start another feud with Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl after the rocker slammed the show and vowed never to let his band's music be featured.

Murphy adds, "The Foo Fighters are brilliant. We'd love to do one of their songs, if they were ever interested. But if it's not their thing, then OK. I personally wish them luck (and) will still listen to their music."
