Elizabeth Taylor was honored for her longstanding AIDS charity work at a star-studded gala in New York on Wednesday.
The Hollywood legend is the founding international chairman of amfAR, The Foundation for AIDS Research, and also created the Elizabeth Taylor Aids Foundation (ETAF).
She devotes much of her time to fundraising, and amfAR bosses celebrated her achievements at a party in the Big Apple to mark the organization's 25th anniversary.
Former U.S. President Bill Clinton
and fashion designer Diane von Furstenberg were also among the honorees. Elton John
, Gladys Knight
, Stevie Wonder
and Dionne Warwick
, who pledged all royalties from their 1985 rendition of That's What Friends Are For
to the foundation, reunited onstage to sing the track.
