Seth Rogen's superhero film "The Green Hornet" stung competition at the box office this weekend after taking profits of $34 million.
Director Michel Gondry's big-screen adaptation about a richboy-turned-masked vigilante opened at the top spot, according to studio estimates released on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Ron Howard's new comedy "The Dilemma," starring Vince Vaughn and Kevin James, opened at number two with $17.4 million in earnings.
The Coen brothers' western "True Grit" slipped from one to three with $11.2 million.
Rounding out the top five are "The King's Speech" and Darren Aronofsky's ballet thriller "Black Swan," with $9.1 million and $8.1 million respectively.
