Kelsey Grammer's estranged wife Camille has laughed off comments she made implying the actor has a penchant for cross-dressing, insisting she was "joking".
 
The Frasier star walked out on Camille last year and is now engaged to marry new girlfriend Kayte Walsh. The split turned nasty this week when Camille asked a judge to deny her husband's request to have their marriage dissolved quickly so he can walk down the aisle with his British lover next month.

Camille's legal request came after hinting to shock jock Howard Stern that the actor enjoys wearing ladies' clothes and insisting his stint in drag queen musical La Cage Aux Folles on Broadway was the "right play" for him. She added in the interview, "He has a little waist."

However, she has denied she meant anything by her comments, claiming it's imperative to "play" about during an appearance on Stern's popular radio show.

She tells Popeater.com, "I was joking. I have known Howard for years and when you agree to do his show you know you have to play."
